Forgetting What is Behind Press on Towards God

Nov 10, 2024

As the Writer of Hebrews approaches the end of his letter he encourages the reader to make a firm commitment to the Lord. Serving the Lord is a life long journey that lead to the New Jerusalem in Heaven. Along the way we can become discouraged, so the Writer quotes Haggai 2:2-9 to remind the reader of the remnant of Jews who returned from captivity to rebuild the Temple. They became discourage, so God spoke through the Prophet Haggai to give them a Messianic Prophecy about how in that humble looking Temple God's Love and Peace would reach the nations. At the time of writing Hebrews, the New Covenant had spread throughout the entire Roman Empire as a fulfilment of Haggai's prophecy. The recipients of the letter were encouraged because the fulfilment of the prophecy had happened in their lifetime.
