Perseverance and Patience in Action
God’s Call Gives Us a Vision of what He wants us to do and achieve for the Kingdom of God. God gave Joseph two dreams of leadership and authority when he was 17 years old. He did not know how or when God would fulfill them, but he knew God had spoken. These dreams became the anchor of his faith through betrayal, slavery, and prison.
God often gives us glimpses of His calling, not to answer all our questions, but to keep us anchored when the trials come.
God’s call may take years to unfold, but His timing is perfect. Joseph went from prisoner to ruler in a single day because he remained faithful and trusted in God’s plan. What others mean for evil, God uses for good.
Most people read Joseph’s story as if it’s mainly about how he saved Egypt and the surrounding nations from famine. But that was only part of the story.
God had already told Abraham 183 years before Joseph’s dream that his descendants would live in Egypt for 400 years as slaves. Joseph’s role in God’s plan was to bring Jacob’s family into Egypt and settle them in the best, most secure land — so they could grow into a great nation.
Joseph’s life shows us that God’s plans span multiple generations. Every person God calls plays their part in His greater plan of redemption.
God’s call may not be clear, but His plan is always certain.
